Meet Our Pastor
Welcome to Trinity! I am Kara Togel and I am delighted to be the pastor here. Whatever has brought you to our website today, we are thrilled you are here. We would love for you to join us on Sundays at 10:00 for worship. Everyone is always welcome!
Fueled by coffee and Jesus, I embarked on the journey of a lifetime. Many have called me crazy, and they are probably right. In July 2018, I moved to New Freedom from South Dakota to live out the call that God has placed on my life. I grew up in Watertown, South Dakota where I spent most of my time swimming, knitting, fishing, and trying to understand the mystery that is God. My love for math and science lead me to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD. At SDSM&T, I continued to grow in my faith and kept feeling a call to do something more than Engineering.
I started to explore this call through working with great communities of faith: Rapid City First UMC and Lutheran Campus Ministries. Upon graduation, I accepted an interim position as Connections Coordinator at First UMC, in Rapid City, SD.
I am currently attending Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. and I am most excited to continue to grow in the communities in both the New Freedom and D.C. areas.
People often wonder what my focus of ministry is, and I try to focus two things. The first focus is on the Greatest of all Commandments: to love God with all our being and our neighbor as ourselves. I seek to love everyone, and I strive to help others to learn this too. The second is to have faith and to put our faith over our fears. This world can be scary, but when we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we begin to find peace.
If you are looking for a pastoral visit either in your home or at the church, please contact me to set up a time, or drop by the church office. I am usually in the office on Thursday and Friday mornings. On Monday evenings, and Tuesdays, I am in classes at Wesley Theological Seminary. I can be reached by the church office or via email at .
I hope you all have a blessed day!
